5 Things You Should Know Today: Sept. 20

Everything from school sports to school levies to First Ladies.

1. The National Weather Service is predicting a slight chance of thunderstorms for the rest of the morning. Highs in the afternoon should range between 65-70 degrees. It's also looking like a windy afternoon (20-25 mph).

2. If you're in and around Oakdale today and looking to support your local high school sporting event, there are plenty of things going on today: vs. Mahtomedi HS at 3:30 p.m.; vs. North HS at 7 p.m.; and boys and girls soccer both play at Simley HS at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

4. Tonight is the first of three public hearings on a no-tax increase renewal of ISD 622's operating levy. The hearing will take place at Carver Elementary School from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

5. On this day in 1939, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was the keynote speaker at the first meeting of the Women's Institute in St. Paul, Minn.
