County Board Members to Vote This Week on Keeping Libraries Closed Sundays and Mondays

The Washington County Library Board is proposing the new schedule to cut costs.

The Washington County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to vote Tuesday on keeping all of the county’s libraries closed on Sundays and Mondays starting in 2012.

The move is a cost-cutting measure first presented to the board in August that would allow the library system to .

The library system when the Lake Elmo City Council voted in June to pull out of the county library system and run its library at the city level.

Both the and libraries are currently open on Sundays and Mondays. See the photo section of this article for the proposed hours at all of the county’s libraries.

The Washington County Board is also scheduled to consider the following items at its meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22:

  • Entering into a grant agreement to develop facilities that accommodate evening cross country skiing at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve.
  • Selecting a consultant to find internal candidates to fill the position of retiring County Administrator Jim Schug.
