Editor's Notebook: Council Wants New Announcement Signs, Administrator Recognized

The Oakdale City Council asked staff to get a cost estimate for upgrading the announcement sign at the corner of Hadley Avenue to an electronic, dynamic sign.

City Looking Into New Announcement Signs: The Oakdale City Council directed staff to find out the costs of upgrading the city’s announcement signs at the corner of Highway 36 and Hadley Avenue, and at its workshop meeting Tuesday, May 8. They’re seeking cost estimates for full-color and single-color dynamic signs at both locations. The city has about $55,000 in Capital Equipment Certificate money to use for the project, according to a staff report. City Council members said they don't want to spend more than that amount, so they’d delay doing the city hall sign if that added too much to the cost.

Another Award for Waldron: City Administrator Craig Waldron is receiving the Economic Development Association of Minnesota’s president’s award in June, Assistant to the City Administrator Dave Schaps told the Economic Development Commission at its meeting Wednesday, May 9. Waldron’s previous awards include the International City/County Manager’s Association’s 2011 Career Development award.
