Editor's Notebook: More Snowshoe Programs, No Ski Trail Grooming this Winter
Leaves might still be falling outside, but Oakdale's Parks and Recreation Department is already thinking snow.
More snowshoe programs in the works: Because snowshoe rental at the has been so popular, Oakdale’s Parks and Recreation Department is planning to expand the program, according to city staff’s monthly update to the Parks and Recreation Commission. Some possibilities: a full-moon snowshoe event, lessons and snowshoe disc golf. The city is in its third year of its snowshoe program, Recreation Superintendent Julie Williams told the commission at its Tuesday meeting.
No Trail Grooming at the this Winter: No one answered a call for opinions on whether the city should continue to groom its trails at the for cross country skiing, Parks Superintendent Randy Bastyr told the Parks and Recreation Commission Tuesday. Commission members said they’d support Bastyr’s recommendation not to have the trails groomed this year. The parks department will plow the paved trails at the park, he said.
