Election Day Forecast: Slight Chance of Rain in the Morning

What should you where to the polls on Election Day? Here's an Election Day forecast for the Oakdale area.

There are a whole lot of factors that play into the voting process on Election Day, and weather is one of them.

But overall the forecast for the Oakdale area calls for a nice fall day.

There is a 50-percent chance of rain before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, which means you may want to bring a raincoat if you’re planning to hit the polls first thing in the morning.

The NWS forecast for Tuesday afternoon is cloudy skies—gradually becoming mostly sunny—with a high near 46 degrees. Election Day will be breezy—with a southwest wind at 10-15 mph becoming a west-by-northwest wind in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.

Tuesday night’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a low around 33 degrees and winds coming from the northwest at 7-11 mph.

With so much at stake at the polls, could the weather be a factor on Election Day?

A survey conducted by The Weather Channel states:

Bad weather seems to deter undecided voters more from going to the polls than Democrats or Republicans. According to the survey, bad weather deters 35% of undecided voters; 27 percent of Democrats; and 20 percent of Republicans.

The latest weather maps show relatively quiet weather across much of the U.S. on Election Day.
