Hearing Thursday on Amendment to Allow Tanner's Lake Ball Field Lights

The Oakdale Planning Commission will take public testimony on a rule change that would allow 70-foot tall lights at Tanner's Lake Park, and will also consider a request from McDonald's to install an electronic dynamic sign.

The Oakdale Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at its meeting Thursday on amending city ordinance to allow 70-foot tall lights at the ball field.

City ordinance currently limits the height of lighting to 30 feet, according to a city staff report, and the amendment would allow up to 70-foot high lights for public recreational uses.

At a neighborhood meeting on the project, nearby residents raised concerns about the cost of the project and questioned whether it would increase crime in the park.
