Highway 36 Work to Begin Thursday

Much of the bridge construction will coincide with the 75-day closure of Highway 36 between Highway 61 and White Bear Avenue.

Construction on a new Keller Lake bridge over Highway 36 just east of Highway 61 will begin Thursday, June 20, according to an update from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Much of the project construction will coincide with the 75-day closure of Highway 36 between Highway 61 and White Bear Avenue.

MnDOT hopes that coordinating the two projects will help lessen traffic impacts in the corridor.

The bridge will remain open throughout the project, but traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Highway 36 between Edgerton Street and Highway 61 in late June so crews can construct a crossover. Once the crossover is complete, one lane in each direction on half of the bridge be accessible while the other half of the structure is being built.

Construction is expected to be complete by Sept. 28, weather permitting.
