Other facts

Mother of three adult children and grandmother of four. Married to Tim Van Ness for 38 years. Served on District 622 School Board for 13 years.

If I am fortunate enough to be re-elected to the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School Board, my priorities will be to fairly represent the interests of students and the taxpayers who fund our schools. I also will do everything possible to promote trust and dialogue among our teachers, administrators, parents and guardians. Students learn best when the adults in the schools feel listened to and empowered to do their best work.

We have much to be proud of in District 622, including our free all-day, every-day kindergarten, middle school world language program, extended elementary school day, literacy and math specialists in the schools, college prep courses in the high schools, improving achievement scores, high expectations for students and staff, and fiscal accountability.

We also have much work to do to ensure that every child has a chance to be successful. I will do everything I can to make sure that the dollars we spend support strategies that deliver measurable progress for all students.
