Oakdale City Council to Hold Closed Meeting on Proposed Oak Marsh Hotel

The City Council will also talk about the 2012 budget at its meeting Tuesday.

The Oakdale City Council has scheduled a closed meeting Tuesday to discuss the sale or lease of property at Oak Marsh Golf Course for a proposed hotel at the site.

Fairway Suites, a Kansas-based company, has proposed developing a hotel on the golf course property that would work synergistically with the course. Developers have said that the hotel guests would play golf and use the banquet facilities, while the golf course would be a draw for guests.

At its workshop meeting and regular meeting Tuesday, June 28, the Oakdale City Council is also scheduled to:

  • Discuss the proposed 2012 budget.
  • Consider  promoting Julie Williams to become recreation superintendent after Parks and Recreation Director Bruce Anderson retires June 30.
  • Consider establishing fees for memorializing loved ones through benches, tree plantings and plaques. The fee schedule recommended by staff charges $500 for a bench, $125 for tree planting and $175 for a bronze engraved plaque.
