Oakdale Legislators Address PFCs, Government Efficiency, Organ Donation in New Bills

Here are some of the bills Oakdale's legislators have introduced so far this year.

The Minnesota Legislature just convened this Tuesday, but Oakdale’s representatives in St. Paul have already been busy introducing bills.

Here are a few of the bills they’ve introduced or co-sponsored this year so far:

  • Money for a Follow-Up Study on PFCs: S.F. 1546, co-sponsored by Sen. Chuck Wiger, would provide the pollution control agency with funding to do a follow-up study to test the perfluorochemical levels in Lake Elmo, Oakdale and Cottage Grove.
  • Pilot Projects to Streamline Government: S.F. 1510, sponsored by Sen. Chuck Wiger, allows counties to test alternative models for delivering services and requires them to report back on the results.
  • Extension of Tanner’s Lake TIF District: H.F. 1791, sponsored by Rep. Nora Slawik would change the expiration date for requesting a tax increment financing district in the Tanner’s Lake redevelopment area from July 1, 2013, to Dec. 31, 2017.
  • Creating an Anatomical Gift License Plate: H.F. 1792, sponsored by Rep. Nora Slawik, and S.F. 1484, sponsored by Sen. Chuck Wiger, would create a license plate that says “Become an organ donor and save a life.” To get the plates, drivers would have to pay a $10 fee, plus make a onetime contribution of $30 or more toward organ donation programs.
