Oakdale Mall Bond Sale, Tanners Lake Beach Lifeguards on Oakdale City Council Agenda

The City Council is set to discuss selling $7.5 million in bonds.

The Oakdale City Council is scheduled to discuss a recommendation from the Oakdale Park and Recreation Commission that the city stop employing lifeguards at during the summer at its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The move would save the city between $21,000 and $23,000 per year, which could be put toward expanding the number of concerts in the city’s summer concert series, increasing special events, expanding the outdoor speaker series, increasing marketing efforts and expanding young adult programs, according to a staff report from Oakdale Parks and Recreation Director Bruce Anderson.

The commission recommends that the restrooms at the beach remain open to the public during the day, according to Anderson’s report.
