PREVIEW: Oakdale City Council Meeting

The Oakdale City Council will discuss next steps for the Tartan Crossing public improvement project at their meeting this week, among other things.

At their June 12 meeting, Oakdale’s City Council will hold a public hearing about the Tartan Crossing public improvements plan, giving residents a chance to voice their opinions about a project that could carry a 1.9 million dollar price tag, depending on the contractor chosen.

According to council documents, in order to properly align Hallmark Avenue North with 10th Street North, the city needs to do away with the right-of-way along 11th Street.

In addition to the public hearing, council members will be asked to choose a contractor for the Tartan Crossings project.

Six contractors submitted bids ranging from 1.5 to 1.8 million dollars, according to council documents.  Director of Public Works and City Engineer Brian Bachmeier recommends using Burschville Construction, a Hanover-based company that has performed similar work for the City of Oakdale in the past.

“Burschville Construction has been a subcontractor on a number of previous city projects, and a general contractor on a utility project several years ago for the City of Oakdale,” Bachmeier said in council documents. “We can conclude that Burschville Construction has the experience and ability to complete this project.”

Burschville Construction would charge the city $1,523,721 for the project.
