Pulkrabek Gives Report on Conference
Washington County Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek said he attended sessions on transportation and avoiding debt at the National Association of Counties conference in July.
After last week’s at the Washington County Board meeting, Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek gave his report Tuesday, Aug. 2, on the sessions he attended while at the National Association of Counties conference in July.
Last week he said he would wait until fellow commissioner and conference attendee Dennis Hegberg returned from a bereavement leave to report on the trip.
His report included some of the sessions he attended on subjects including using one’s own strengths and interests in committee assignments, transportation and ways to avoid long-term debt as well as an entertainment session. He also talked about his observations of the conference’s host city Portland, OR, noting the “large” homeless community. He quoted a cardboard sign held by one of the homeless people which made him laugh. He said the sign read “Too honest to steal, too ugly to prostitute.” Pulkrabek laughed while the rest of the people in the room remained quiet.
