School Board Approves Preliminary Levy Increase

The District 622 school board approved the 2012 proposed levy, which will be payable in 2013.

The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School Board approved the proposed tax levy at its meeting on Sept. 25.

The preliminary 2012 property tax levy (payable in 2013) was approved for $35,822,069.32, which is a 4.07 percent increase — or $1,401,096.45 increase — from the previous year.

This amount is the maximum property tax levy set by the school board and the final levy will not exceed this amount. Since the state Department of Education is allowed to revise the proposed levy, the final levy might slightly differ from the proposed levy.

The school board will adopt its final levy on Dec. 18. The public will be notified and will be allowed to speak regarding the budget and tax levy during the school board meeting in December.

Washington County will mail proposed taxes to property owners by Nov. 24.
