5 Things You Should Know Today: Sept. 22

Homecoming parades, high school sports and baseball history.

1. The National Weather Service is predicting a slight chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The mostly cloudy day should top out around 55 degrees. Tonight should get down to around 41 degrees and be mostly calm.

2. High schools sports abound tonight with at 3:30 p.m. and at 5 p.m. Both play at home against North St. Paul. Girls takes on Simley at 6 p.m.

3. Attend the 1 p.m. ribbon cutting of one of , Woodbury's newest luxury pet-friendly apartment community located at Woodbury Drive and Hudson Road.

4. Head out to the Come Back Home parade in downtown North St. Paul from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The parade coincides with North High Homecoming Week. Homecoming royalties will also be represented in the parade.

5. On this day in 1968, Cesar Tovar became the second player in Major League Baseball history to play all nine positions during a Minnesota Twins game. Since then, just two other players have accomplished the feat (Scott Sheldon, Texas Rangers, 2000; Shane Halter, Detroit Tigers, 2000).
