College Grads, Scholars from Oakdale

Crown College

Julia Mahlum, of Oakdale, graduated from the Crown College School of Arts and Sciences, in St. Bonifacius, Minn., during the 96th annual commencement ceremony held in May 2013.

Mahlum earned a degree in youth/social ministry.

Taylor University

Matthew Watland was one of nearly 500 students who received degrees during Taylor University's commencement exercises held on May 18.

Watland, a resident of Oakdale, received a bachelor’s degree in biology science education.

University of Nebraska

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced the students named to the dean’s list/honor roll for the spring semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

Oakdale’s Rachel Horzewski, a junior mechanical engineering major, had a 4.0 grade-point average.

Morningside College

Gina Austin, daughter of Steve and Kathy Austin of Oakdale, was named a Dimmitt Scholar at Morningside College in recognition of high academic distinction for the 2012-2013 school year.

Austin is a graduate of Hill-Murray School.

UW-Stout

Students from Oakdale who were recipients of the Chancellor's Award at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for the spring 2013 semester included Krysten Treichel, of Oakdale, majoring in business.

The award is presented to students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Dunwoody College

The following students from Oakdale qualified for inclusion in the Dunwoody College of Technology spring semester dean's list by upholding a 3.5 or higher grade point average:

  • Christopher Brenna
  • Christopher Ly

UW-River Falls

The following Oakdale residents were among 807 students who received degrees during spring commencement at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in May.

Jonathan Williams received a bachelor of science degree in international studies and received magna cum laude honors.

Steven Nystrom received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural engineering tech.

Natalie Mehlhorn received a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

Hannah White received a bachelor of science degree in art.

Brianna Drude received a bachelor of science degree in health and human performance.

Laura Olean received a bachelor of science degree in psychology.

College of Saint Scholastica

The following students graduated from the College of St. Scholastica on May 12, 2013:

Emily Kinsky, of Oakdale, with a bachelor of science in nursing.

Mollie Michel, of Oakdale, with a bachelor of science in biochemistry.

Susan Sutherland, of Oakdale, with a bachelor of science in nursing.

Montana State University

Scotland Steele, of Oakdale, made the University 2013 spring semester honor roll at Montana State University.
