ISD 622 Schools Fare Well Under New Rating System
Carver Elementary School was classified as a "Reward" school.
Today, the Minnesota Department of Education released a new way to monitor school performance. The new system comes after President Barack Obama announced last winter that Minnesota would be one of 10 states granted a waiver to the No Child Left Behind system.
According to a Minnesota Department of Education press release, by using the Multiple Measurement Rating (MMR) system, Title I school performance is judged in the following four areas:

- Student Growth
- Achievement Gap Reduction
- Graduation Rates
The state then reviews those areas and breaks schools into the following subgroups:

Oakdale’s Tartan High School and North St. Paul's North High are not Title I schools. "All schools received a Multiple Measurement Rating, but only Title I schools are eligible for a designation," Jennifer McNeil, communications coordinator for District 622, said. According to District 622's website, none of the six Title I schools were identified as Priority or Focus schools.
“We do site improvement plans every year for all of our buildings and we’ll continue to do those things,” McNeil said. “[Tartan High School and North Senior High] will probably use this new system as a tool when making their site improvements.”

Maplewood’s Carver Elementary School received a “Reward” designation. This designation puts Carver Elementary School among the top 15 percent of high performing schools in the state.
“Carver Elementary School will be publicly recognized for its good work,” McNeil said.
