New Tartan Activities Director is a Familiar Face

Bryan Munter is a Tartan High School graduate.

Not only has he been a teacher in the school’s math department and a basketball coach for 17 years, he is also a Tartan graduate.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in the hallowed halls of Tartan,” he said.

Munter was most recently chair of the school’s math department, teaching algebra and pre-calculus, and an assistant boys basketball coach before taking on the new role.

He said the chance to get into administration and his belief in the importance of activities drew him to the job.

“I place a high value on activities as part of the educational experience,” he said. “It just creates such a well-rounded and better experience.”

Munter started his schooling at , and then attended Maplewood Middle School before graduating from Tartan in 1989, he said.

He graduated from Northwestern College in Roseville, and then went on to teach for one year in New Auburn, WI, before getting the job at Tartan in 1994, he said. During his years at Tartan, he was both a girls and boys golf coach, was an assistant coach for the boys basketball team for 14 years and was head girls basketball coach for three years.

He is married and has three children attending school in the district.

Former activities director Adrian Moore’s contract was not renewed for this school year.
