Skyview Teacher, Oakdale Best Buy to be Honored at School Board Meeting

Skyview Elementary School teacher Jennifer Terry organized District 622 Project Family Connect.

Jennifer Terry, a teacher at , is scheduled to be honored at the District 622 School Board meeting Tuesday, May 17.

Terry devised and organized District 622 Project Family Connect, an April event that brought about 50 providers of services for families in need together at Woodland Hills Church.

More than 515 people took advantage of the services offered, which included haircuts, childcare resources, employment services and legal services.

More than 200 volunteers helped with the event, according to a report to the School Board.

“Jennifer is to be congratulated for pursuing her dream and making the first Project Family Connect a success,” the report says.

A team of volunteers from is also scheduled to be honored at the meeting. The group has “adopted” four Skyview Elementary School special education classrooms, volunteering and also donating money and equipment. Click to read more about Best Buy’s involvement at Skyview.

Best Buy team members include: T. J. Rice, Stephanie LaFavor, Gabe Johnson, Adam Hanson, Amol Asavale, David Herme, Matty Nik, Alyssa Hinze, Paxton Carroll, Clark Letendre, Amanda Sortor, Dugan Davidson, Adam LaFavor, Jason Flom, Manny Kuphal, Matt Iverson, Matt Anderson, Rachel Kaup, Jenna McClellan, Brittany Black, Zach Luger, and Marie Anderson, according to a report to the School Board.

At its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, the School Board is also scheduled to:

  • Hear from superintendent Patty Phillips about redistricting. The current in the Minnesota House would into separate legislative districts.
  • Discuss the 2011-2012 budget.
  • Consider approving unrequested leaves of absences for teachers Denver Moeller and Molly Bye due to a lack of pupils and financial limitations.
  • Consider terminating the equivalent of 12 full-time elementary school teachers, 10 full-time middle and high school teachers and 13 full-time special services teachers who have probationary status in the district.
