Transfiguration School Raises $40,000 in Walkathon

Students on Thursday walked over to the Maplewood Nature Center, and the principal will soon spend a day on the roof.

The students met their goal.

That means Transfiguration Catholic School Principal Jan Heuman must soon spend a day on the roof.

“We have fun,” she said.

The goal was $40,000, raised as part of the school’s annual Walkathon, which had beaten that figure by $827 on Thursday.

“We expect more to come in next week,” Heuman said.

The Oakdale school has held the Walkathon for the past several years. Students got pledges from friends and family and on Thursday walked to the Maplewood Nature Center.

The funds go into the school’s budget and support its programming, Heuman said.

“We have a lot of fun with it and it builds school spirit,” she said. “And obviously it’s a very important part of our budget.”
