VIDEO: Skyview Middle School Students Learn to Strum Guitars
A new after-school guitar class at Skyview Middle School has drawn the interest of seventh- and eighth-grade students.
For the past several weeks, seventh- and eighth-grade guitar aficionados at have been staying after their classes for lessons in rhythm, octaves, tuning and technique.
Chad Parslow, a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music , said he started the class as part of Targeted Services, a program for students with alternate learning styles.
One student had taken guitar lessons in the past, but for the most part, Parslow said, he was “starting from scratch.”
The district supplies guitars for students to practice on, and lessons will continue in 2012.
