Running For School Board? Superintendent Hosts Upcoming Informational Session

District 622 Superintendent Patty Phillips will host a school board informational session for those interested in running for a seat on the school board this fall.

Are you thinking of running for District 622 school board? Then mark July 24 on your calendar.

Superintendent Patty Phillips of the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale school district will be hosting an informational session from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24. 

Phillips will cover a range of topics regarding the school board, including roles and responsibilities of the school board and how to become a candidate. Phillips will also answer any questions from residents.

If you can't attend the meeting, the Minnesota School Boards Association offers an informational video and brochure on its website

School board elections will take place on Nov. 6. Four seats are up for election. Each seat is a four-year term. Residents must file for the school board between July 31 and Aug. 14 at the District Education Center, 2520 East 12th Avenue in North St. Paul during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be open until 5 p.m. on the last day of filing. Those filing must file an affidavit of candidacy with the school district's election clerk and pay the $2 filing fee by Aug. 14.
