Football Playoff Preview: North St. Paul vs. Totino-Grace

North St. Paul faces No. 1 seed Totino-Grace in the first round of the playoff Tuesday.

FOOTBALL PLAYOFF PREVIEW

North St. Paul (2-6, 2-5 Classic Suburban Conference) vs. Totino-Grace (7-1, 6-0 North Suburban Conference)

PLAYMAKERS

  • Mustafa Shabazz (North St. Paul – Running Back) rushed for a season-high 72 yards rushing on nine carries with a touchdown in their loss to Edina last Wednesday.
  • Donovan Nepple (North St. Paul – Wide Receiver) showed his versatility with a nine-yard touchdown run. Has 12 receptions this season.
  • Nick Carr, (Totino-Grace – Tackle) is a 6-foot-8 offensive tackle who has offers from Northern Iowa and North Dakota State.
  • Andy Moritko, (Totino-Grace –Defensive Back/Wide Receiver) KARE-11 preseason All-Metro selection, had two touchdowns as a receiver last Wednesday against North Branch. He had three scores in win over Mahtomedi earlier this year.


POLARS WIN IF...
They can run the ball well enough to keep the Eagle offense off the field. The Polars are averaging just three yards per carry. The winner of this game faces the victor of White Bear Lake/Irondale.

EAGLES WIN IF...
They can continue their strong play after a season-opening loss to Minnetonka.  They have won their last seven games by 26.7 points after finding replacements for their starting quarterback, top six rushers and seven of their top eight receivers they lost to graduation.
