Oakdale Girl Recognized at Volleyball Camp

Morgan Edlund was honored for her combination of communication, attitude and technical skills.

Morgan Edlund, of Oakdale, received the Top C.A.T. Award (for communication, attitude and technical skills) at the S.P.I.K.E.™ Performance Camp held in late July at Mounds Park Academy in Maplewood. The award goes to an athlete who exhibits the best combination the three skils, and is awarded at the sole discretion of the camp coaches.

The coaches take the award very seriously, said Vic Spadaccini.

“This is a physically demanding and mentally challenging camp," Spadaccini said. "Morgan was competing with athletes from around the world."

She made a strong impression on coaches quickly, Spadaccini said.

S.P.I.K.E.™ Performance Camps is one of the premier girls volleyball camps in the Midwest. Athletes from Japan, Kenya, Belgium, Spain and other countries have attended. Among the thirteen coaches who worked the camp, four are collegiate head coaches, one is a collegiate assistant coach, and two are elite club coaches. Former professional players, collegiate players, or high school coaches assist the Court Head Coaches. The camp has sessions for players of all levels, from experienced beginners to collegiate-bound just-graduated seniors.
