Tartan Boys Basketball Team Beats Centaurs 71-23

The Tartan varsity boys basketball team will play Prior Lake High School Wednesday.

Tartan High School's varsity boys basketball team beat the Brooklyn Center Centaurs by 48 points in Tuesday night's game, both teams' first game in the Tartan Holiday Boys Varsity Basketball Tournament at . Other schools competing in the tournament are Bloomington Kennedy, Elk River, Forest Lake, Prior Lake, Rogers and Spring Lake Park.

The score: The final score was 71-23. Tartan was ahead 50-6 at halftime.

Reaction to the lop-sided win: "I don't like it when it's like that," said Tartan High School Athletic Director Adrian Moore, "because then our front line guys don't really get a chance to get better."

Areas that need work: "We need to get a lot better offensively," said Coach Mark Klingsporn. "Our offensive timing needs to get a lot better."

Up next: Tartan plays Prior Lake High School at 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

"It will be a very different type of game," Klingsporn said. "They're very good, so we look forward to a really good basketball game."

Will they win? "I think we'll take care of things," Moore said. "The guys were playing very well today."

If Tartan beats Prior Lake Wednesday, the team will play in the championship game Thursday.
