Tartan Football Picks Up First Win Of Season
The Titans came from behind to beat North Branch 38-14 on Friday
The Tartan football team notched its first win of the season on Friday with a 38-14 road win at North Branch.
The Titans bounced back from a 19-7 loss to Mahtomedi in Week 1, but they had to come from behind to do it. Trailing 7-0 after the first quarter, the Titans scored 17 unanswered points to end the half and take a 17-7 lead.
Quarterback Mitchel Grohs completed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Stacy Kalkwarf to tie the score a 7-7, then Alan Medina-Gonzalez scored on a 5-yard touchdown run to give Titan a 14-7 lead.

After a field goal by Jo Tjosvold to end the half, Medina-Gonzalez scored from 20 yards out to give the Titans a 24-7 lead.
North Branch cut the lead to 24-14 in the fourth quarter, but Tartan rebounded with two more scores. Halim Bilal rushed for a 3-yard touchdown, then Dakota McGeehan returned a 52-yard interception for a score.

The Titans return home next week for a matchup with North St. Paul. The game is set for 7 p.m.
