Former Oakdale Mayor Honored as 2013 Volunteer of the Year

Oakdale City Council member says County Commissioner Ted Bearth could be called "Volunteer of the Decade."

In December, the Oakdale City Council named Ted Bearth the 2013 Volunteer of the year.

Bearth is a member of the Washington County Board of Commissioners, a former Oakdale mayor and City Council member, and a member of the Maplewood/Oakdale Lions Club.

"He has also served as chairperson and coordinator for Oakdale Summerfest for over 25 years and is a member of the Oakdale Veteran’s Memorial Committee," according to a news release from the city.

"I can honestly say that this year’s ‘Volunteer of the Year,' Ted Bearth, could more easily be called 'Volunteer of the Decade,'" Mayor Carmen Sarrack said in the news release.

There were 19 nominees for the award, according to a story in the Roseville Review.

"There are a lot of people qualified to get this, and I’m happy that I’m one of them,” Bearth said in the Roseville Review. “It’s something I’ll treasure.

“It’s been fun, all the things I’ve done over the years, and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
