Oakdale Dental Office Taking Leftover Halloween Candy to Be Shipped to Military Members Overseas

The Operation Gratitude effort, which will also ship dental supplies, runs through Nov. 10 at All Family Dental in Oakdale.

“As a dentist, I’d like to see these kids give up their candy—for both reasons,” says Dr. Rick Timm of All Family Dental.

The Oakdale dental office will serve as a collection point for Operation Gratitude, which takes leftover Halloween candy and dental hygiene items and ships them overseas to those serving in the U.S. Military.

City officials approached Timm about participating in the program, which he said will get children thinking of dental health and the service of those in the military.

“They’ll know it’s going to be shipped to our boys and girls in the armed services,” he said.

All Family Dental will accept all types of candy (except Pixy Stix), as well as toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, travel-size mouthwash and new lip balm through Nov. 10.

Timm, who has brothers and sisters who are veterans and nephews in the military, said it’s nice to be able do something for those serving overseas.

“What these people do for us—it’s worthwhile to do something for them,” he said.

All Family Dental is located at 1075 Hadley Ave.
