Veterans Day Event Monday at Oakdale Elementary
This week's events include a virtual job fair for veterans, the City Council's discussion of licenses and a chili cook-off.
Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11. City offices are closed, as well as most banks and some businesses. Call ahead, if you plan to visit a business on Monday.
Schools, however, are open. Oakdale Elementary will hold a Veterans Day program at 9:15 a.m. Monday.
If you're a military veteran looking for work, or you know someone who is, there's a nationwide, virtual career fair on Monday that will link dozens of major employers to job seekers. Veteran Recruiting.com will host a virtual job fair with dozens of employers participating nationwide from noon to 3 p.m. Monday.

The Oakdale City Council will look at several licensing issues—involving Marcus Oakdale Cinema and Stonewater Massage and Skin Care—on Tuesday.
Holy Cross Lutheran Church will hold a chili cook-off from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. The proceeds of the event will help a member of the church.
