Award-Winning Filmmaker Hosts Special Oakdale Screening Featuring Bachmann, Romney

A special screening of "Janeane from Des Moines" is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Carmike Cinemas. The film follows an Iowa housewife who seeks answers from GOP presidential candidates on the campaign trail.

An award-winning filmmaker who is on a three-week tour is bringing her movie to Oakdale to give a different perspective on the GOP campaign trail leading up to the Iowa Caucuses. Janeane from Des Moines will have a special screening at Carmike Cinemas in Oakdale on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Written and directed by Grace Lee, the drama is co-written with and stars Jane Edith Wilson as Janeane, a conservative Iowa housewife who seeks answers from the Republican presidential candidates during the actual 2012 Iowa Caucuses. Wilson has appeared in several popular TV shows, including ER, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld.  Lee described the film to Oakdale Patch as a "mix of fiction and non-fiction." Carmike Cinema Group Acquires Rave Cinemas

The acquisition was announced Monday. The transition will take place before the end of the year.

Carmike Cinemas just extended its reach.  According to a recent press release, Rave Cinemas was acquired by the Carmike Cinema family of theaters late Monday morning.  The acquisition was part of a larger purchase agreement that included 16 theaters in seven states. The release states the Carmike Theater company paid $19 million in cash and assumed $100.4 million in lease obligations as part of the agreement.  "The addition of these 16 state-of-the-art theatres and 251 screens from Rave is a key, opportunistic development," said Carmike Cinema president and CEO David Passman.
