Youa Lor's wife testified in the murder trial of Oakdale resident Dao Xiong.
Youa Lor, the St. Paul man killed in Lake Elmo after advertising his car for sale on Craigslist, had moved with his family from the East Coast to Minnesota for a better life, his wife told a Washington County District Court jury, Fox 9 news reports. The trial of Dao Xiong, of the Oakdale man accused of his murder, started Friday. Wife Katie Lor was left a widowed mother of four at age 25 following the incident, which occurred last September, according to a previous Fox 9 report. Opening statements took place Friday in the case of Dao Xiong, an Oakdale man accused of murdering a man who was advertising a car on Craigslist.
Both prosecuting and defense attorneys in the case of Dao Xiong, 20, agreed that the Oakdale man intended to steal a car from another man he met through Craigslist last September. But that’s where the similarities in their accounts of Xiong’s intent stopped in opening statements Friday in Washington County District Court, the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press reported. Xiong is accused of shooting Youa Ty Lor in the abdomen in a remote area of Lake Elmo while he was out test driving Lor’s 2003 Nissan 350Z, which Xiong wanted for parts.
