Tran Found Incompetent to Stand Trial in Fatal Child Shooting Case

The man accused of killing 9-year-old Devin Aryal in a February shooting has been found incompetent to stand trial.

Nhan Tran, the man accused of killing Oakdale 9-year-old Devin Aryal in an apparent random shooting in February, has been found incompetent to stand trial, according to Minnesota Public Radio. Tran on Feb. 11 allegedly began shooting at vehicles on Seventh Street near Hadley Avenue. Bullets struck three people, fatally wounding 9-year-old Devin and wounding his mother, Melissa Aryal, and another woman. From the MPR piece: A psychological examination by requested Tran's attorney found him incompetent to stand trial in March. A psychological exam requested by prosecutors had "equivocal" findings, according to Washington Co. Attorney Pete Orput. The report was filed in court this morning. Duke's Pizza Pub & Grill on April 13 held a fundraiser to benefit the family of 9-year-old Oakdale shooting victim Devin Aryal. Devin, a fourth-grader at Oakdale Elementary School, was fatally shot Feb. 11 in what police called a random shooting near Fourth Street and Hale Avenue.  The fundraiser featured an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet for a $10 donation, door prizes and silent auction. Duke's Pizza to Host Benefit for 9-Year-Old Oakdale Shooting Victim

Duke's will offer an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet for a $10 donation, door prizes and a silent auction on Saturday, April 13.

Duke's Pizza Pub & Grill is hosting a fundraiser Saturday to benefit the family of 9-year-old Oakdale shooting victim Devin Aryal, according to a Facebook post published by the City of Oakdale, MN Local Government. Devin, a fourth-grader at Oakdale Elementary School, was fatally shot in what police call a random shooting on Feb. 11 near Fourth Street and Hale Avenue.  According to the post, the fundraiser event will take place from 2-6 p.m. at Duke's. An all-you-can-eat pizza buffet will be available for a $10 donation, door prizes will be given away and silent auction items will be up for bid. Bidding ends at 5:30 p.m.  RELATED:

County Asks for Second Mental Evaluation for Man Accused in Oakdale Murder

A mental evaluation performed last month found Nhan Tran, the man accused of gunning down 9-year-old Devin Aryal, unfit to participate in his own legal defense. Prosecutors are seeking a second opinion.

An emotional scene unfolded Monday as accused gunman Nhan L. Tran made an appearance in Washington County District Court for a brief hearing releasing results from a court-ordered mental evaluation.  Tran, 34, whom doctors deemed "unfit to participate in his own legal defense" and unable to determine right from wrong, is charged with multiple felonies, including murder, after he was arrested the night of Feb. 11 in Oakdale.  According to police records and court reports, it's believed Tran opened fire on a busy road outside of his Oakdale home, firing at random motorists. Donations Needed for Benefit in Memory of Devin Aryal

A benefit for the family of Devin Aryal will be held on Saturday, April 13. Event organizers are seeking donations for the silent auction and raffle items.

Community members are throwing a benefit for Devin Aryal and they are asking for some help. The benefit will be in memory of Devin Aryal, a 9-year-old Oakdale boy who was fatally shot in what police call a random shooting on Feb. 11. Devin, who was a fourth-grader at Oakdale Elementary, was riding in the backseat of his mother's vehicle on the way home from day care. The benefit will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Dukes Pizza Pub & Grill. There will be a silent auction (last call for silent auction at 5:30 p.m.), a raffle and door prizes. Devin Joseph Aryal was a victim of a shooting that occurred in Oakdale on Feb. 11, 2013.

A funeral service will be held for Devin Joseph Aryal on Monday, Feb. 18. Aryal, 9, died in a shooting that occurred on Feb. 11. Local Business Gives Back to Devin Aryal's Family, Elementary School After Shooting

Pinz will be donating money to the family of Devin Aryal, a 9-year-old boy who died in a shooting incident on Feb. 11.

The community is rallying together since a shooting injured two women and killed a 9-year-old boy on Feb. 11. Now a local business has also stepped up to give back.  On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Pinz will be donating 20 percent of all of its food and beverage sales to the family of Devin Aryal, a fourth grade Oakdale Elementary student who died from a gunshot wound in the Feb. 11 incident.  In addition, Oakdale Elementary students will also receive free bowling, free admittance to the Lazer Maze and a $10 arcade card from 4-8 p.m. on Feb. 19.  "We wanted to give something," said General Manager Amy Rowlinson.
