Five Guys Burgers and Fries had its grand opening and ribbon cutting Friday.
Oakdale’s newest restaurant—Five Guys Burgers and Fries—held its ribbon cutting and grand opening Friday. “A lot of people are excited,” said Oakdale Mayor Carmen Sarrack. “This is a great addition to the city.” It’s the Twin Cities' fourth Five Guys restaurant, and more are planned, according to a press release. District manager Ryan Dussault said they chose the spot in Oakdale—near Baja Sol Tortilla Grill in Oakdale Village—because of the opportunity for synergy with the other businesses in the area. “We love the visibility,” he said. “It’s a beautiful building … and we wanted to get on the east side.” The Oakdale restaurant is the first Twin Cities location east of Minneapolis. Five Guys Opening in Late December: No firm date is yet set, but a spokeswoman from Five Guys Burgers and Fries said last week that the restaurant plans to open its Oakdale location in late December. The restaurant is slated to open in Oakdale Village near Baja Sol Tortilla Grill. Parks Department Increasing Fitness and Health Offerings: Following the success of its yoga classes, the Oakdale Parks and Recreation department plans to start offering pilates classes at the Oakdale Discovery Center in January, said Recreation Superintendent Julie Williams in a meeting last week. Restaurant to open in Oakdale Village.
A national burger restaurant chain plans to open a location in Oakdale before the year’s end, said a company spokeswoman. No opening date is currently set, however, Five Guys Burgers and Fries is slated to open a location at 8360 3rd Street North, near Baja Sol Tortilla Grill in Oakdale Village, toward the end of the year, said spokeswoman Mary McLeese. The restaurant will be owned by a franchisee, she said, and it will be the eighth location in Minnesota. Other Five Guys restaurants are located in Edina, Maple Grove and Minneapolis, according to the company’s website. Five Guys Burgers and Fries started in the Washington D.C. metro area in 1986 and franchises across the country began opening in 2003, according to the company website.

I just got word from the City of Oakdale that the grand opening/ribbon cutting of Five Guys Burgers and Fries is set for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16.   more ›
