President Pimpin Austin, 21, was arrested on domestic assault and malicious punishment of a child charges.
An Oakdale man suspected of whipping his 2-year-old son was booked in Washington County Jail last week for another crime involving the boy's mother. Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Hallmark Circle North on Dec. 7 regarding a domestic assault report and possible child abuse. President Pimpin Austin, 21, of Oakdale, allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old Oakdale woman, who is also the mother of Austin's two children. The woman told police that Austin kicked and punched her in the side and punched her in the head. Police saw visible signs of injury, according to the police report. Austin left the residence on foot and police located him walking at 10th Street and Hadley Avenue. Austin was arrested and taken to Washington County Jail. …

Benjamin Lee Reno, 33, was originally charged with gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child after throwing his 6-year-old stepson on a frozen deck on Thanksgiving Day.
A 33-year-old South St. Paul man originally charged with malicious punishment of a child was sentenced to 90 days in jail Wednesday morning after he reached a deal and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Washington County District Court Judge Gary Schurrer vacated Reno's no-contact order with the boy, stayed 86 of the 90 days in jail and ordered him to pay a $135 fine and remain law abiding. When police located Matthew Dennis Smith, 23, they found two things that should not have been there—a stolen puppy in one room and his 4-year-old daughter in the next.
A Washington County judge sentenced a 23-year-old St. Paul man to five years in prison on Jan. 18 after police found him in violation of a no-contact order last August. Matthew Dennis Smith was given a stay of execution of the sentence, placed on probation for five years and ordered to serve 135 days in the Washington County Jail. According to a Washington County warrant complaint, Oakdale police located Smith in an apartment in the 6200 block of 12th Street North on Aug. 9 after they were contacted on the report of a stolen puppy from Petland in the Sun Ray shopping center. A Washington County judge has found sufficient evidence in the case against South St. Paul's Benjamin Lee Reno to set a trial date. The 32-year-old Reno was charged with gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child after a Thanksgiving Day incident in which he allegedly picked up his 6-year-old stepson by the neck and slammed him on a frozen deck. According to a Washington County District Court Complaint, Reno misunderstood the boy to be bullying his younger brother and allegedly wanted "to show him what a bully was."
