The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Rotary Club has donated dictionaries for five years.
For the fifth year, the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Rotary Club raised money to purchase and distribute dictionaries to every third-grade student in School District 622. Incumbents Nancy Livingston, Steve Hunt and Theresa Auge` and newcomer Becky Neve were elected to the school board.
Three incumbents and one newcomer were elected to the District 622 school board, according to unofficial results from the Minnesota Secretary of State. Incumbents Nancy Livingston, Steve Hunt and Theresa Auge` were re-elected while newcomer Becky Neve was also elected to the school board. Livingston took the lead with 23 percent of the votes from both Washington (8,525) and Ramsey (8,815) counties; Hunt took 19 percent of the Washington County vote (7,041) and 20 percent of the Ramsey County vote (7,887); Auge` took 20 percent of the vote in both Washington (7,386) and Ramsey (7,882) counties; Neve took 18 percent of the Washington County vote (6,692) and 17 percent of the Ramsey County vote (6,693) . The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale school board approved the contract Tuesday night.
The District 622 school board approved the Principals Association contract Tuesday night. The contract is a two-year agreement that covers the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years. Principals will receive a 1 percent increase on their salary schedule for 2011-12 and will receive a 1.15 percent increase for 2012-13. A candidate forum for the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District is on Monday, Oct. 22.
School board candidates for District 622 will be speaking up on Oct. 22. The League of Women Voters of Roseville, Maplewood and Falcon Heights is sponsoring a candidate forum at 7 p.m. on Monday for school board candidates in the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District. The candidate forum will take place in the board room at the District Education Center in North St. Paul. The forum will be an opportunity for residents to hear from the candidates running for school board. The forum will be rebroadcast on Channel 20. Teachers and other staff members from School District 622 rallied in the District Education Center parking lot before the School Board meeting Tuesday, and gave impassioned speeches during the meeting.
Protests from School District 622 teachers about their lack of new contracts have become a regular occurrence at school board meetings, and Tuesday, April 17, was no exception. Union supporters held an outdoor rally before the school board meeting and gave impassioned speeches during the meeting’s public comment portion. “I’m kind of hearing a theme here tonight,” said teacher and North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Education Association officer Dennis Fendt. “’Let’s get it done,’ seems to be the theme. Let’s show an urgency.” The teachers contract expired June 30 of last year, he said. Six union supporters spoke, as well as one supporter of the school board. What was the increase in the insurance cost, not the total cost? Also info from Wisconsin is that the insurance teachers are Union mandated to get are very high cost. Once allowed to buy other policies teachers can save a lot. Unions don't always work FOR employees. Unions ALWAYS work to provide for the employees of the Union, NOT members of the Union.   more ›
