Trial Date Set for Man Suspected of Stabbing Woman to Death

Thomas J. Fox, 44, was accused of murdering a 39-year-old Oakdale woman last year.

A man accused of murdering a 39-year-old Oakdale woman last year will go on trial in March. Thomas J. Fox, 44, was indicted with the murder of Oakdale resident Lori C. Baker in April. He was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree intentional murder during the course of an aggravated robbery. Baker was found dead in her Oakdale Village apartment by the family she nannied for after she did not show up for work on Dec. 28. Her employer found Baker under a blanket surrounded by blood and Baker had apparently been stabbed to death, according to a report by the Oakdale-Lake Elmo Review. Baker's 2009 Mazda was missing from her apartment, which led authorities to Fox after finding the car and checking its registration. Fox …

Fox Indicted for Murder of Oakdale Woman

Thomas J. Fox, 44, was indicted for two counts of first-degree murder.

A 44-year-old man was indicted Thursday in connection with the murder of Oakdale resident Lori C. Baker, according to a press release from the Washington County Attorney’s Office. Thomas J. Fox was indicted for first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree intentional murder during the course of an aggravated robbery, the release says. Baker, 39, was found stabbed to death in her Oakdale Village apartment Dec. 28 by the woman whose family she worked for as a nanny. When Fox was arrested the day after Baker's body was discovered, police found him at a Greyhound Bus station with a ticket to Milwaukee under another name, the Pioneer Press reported, quoting Washington County Attorney Pete Orput.
