The mall’s annual Holiday Open House is on tap for Saturday.
Woodbury Lakes will host its annual Holiday Open House from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. The event features: Meanwhile, Woodbury resident and children’s author Deborah Larson will read her latest book, One Frozen Lake. Afterward, she’ll be on hand to sign copies. Related: Woodbury Woman Pens Children's Book on Ice Fishing The evening culminates with WCCO meteorologist Chris Shaffer—a Woodbury resident who recently won a Midwest Emmy—welcoming Santa as he arrives on a fire truck escorted by the Woodbury Fire Department, plus the lighting of Woodbury Lakes’ live 30-foot tree and a fireworks display set to holiday music. As the weather heats up, so are things at Woodbury Lakes. Patch on Wednesday got word of some of the latest happenings at Woodbury’s outdoor mall. Woodbury Lakes announced that Chico’s opened Wednesday, April 18, completing a move from Tamarack Village. The clothing store moved into the former Talbots location, a 4,500-square-foot space in building D at Woodbury Lakes. (Talbots had closed its Woodbury location, along with 82 others across the country.) Founded in Florida, Chico’s has been in business for 25 years, according to its website, and now has more than 600 stores nationwide. Science Fun with Bob is at the library tonight, Lumberjack Days started yesterday and there's a free blues concert at Woodbury Lakes tonight.
Here’s a good sign: today’s weather forecast doesn’t even mention the heat index! The excessive heat warning for the area was lifted at 9 p.m. last night. The weather today should be sunny, with a high near 86, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The state is starting to re-open following a 20-day shutdown. Fishing licenses are already for sale again. At 6 a.m. this morning lottery tickets were set to go on sale again and MnPASS lanes were set to re-open. Some state parks will re-open Friday.
