What Are the Most Dangerous Intersections in Your Neighborhood?

To add a marker, just click on the blue "Add" button on the map's upper-right corner. Then, click on the intersection you want to identify and hit "submit" in the dialogue box that pops up.

Earlier this month, the City of Minneapolis released a study of car crash statistics that had some striking results: a great many collisions between bicycles and automobiles were the fault of both the cyclist and the driver involved. Red pins in the map above mark the worst intersections for bike-car crashes. Depending on where your views lie on the car-versus-bike question, the results might not have been all that surprising. The study, which analyzed data from 2000 to 2010, found that many drivers caused crashes by not yielding to bikes when they should under state law. It also said that many cyclists caused accidents by "riding in an unpredictable manner," doing things like running traffic lights or riding on the wrong side of the road…

Roundabouts are EASY. and much faster than stop signs or lights. Just the typical Amerikan driver is too busy reading, texting, eating, to actually pay attention to driving. They are NOT that hard to use if everyone does it properly.   more ›

UPDATE: Oakdale Vehicle Strikes Bicyclist in Lake Elmo

A 22-year-old Minneapolis man was transported to Regions Hospital Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old Oakdale man on County Road 5 near Manning Avenue in Lake Elmo.

A bicyclist was transported to Regions Hospital Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 5 near Manning Avenue in Lake Elmo. The bicyclist’s injuries were not life threatening, according to a Washington County dispatch. No arrests were made. David Bartel, 46, of Oakdale was driving a 2000 Chevy Silverado on County Road 5 at about 10:37 p.m. Saturday when he struck a bicyclist, Michael Geving, 22, of Minneapolis, Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Curtis Mowers said. Geving was taken to Regions Hospital by Lakeview Ambulance with back and side pain, Mowers said. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, non-serious injuries.
