This Oakdale native took first place in the event in January.
Oakdale native Rebecca Wesley, a sophomore at Bethel University, won first place in the 400-meter dash at the Bethel Invitational indoor track and field event in January. Wesley finished the final heat with a time of 1:02.00, which was .51 seconds faster than the closest competitor. Bethel University has been a leader and model in Christian higher education since 1871. Approximately 6,500 students from 49 states and 23 countries are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, seminaryand adult education programs.

Northwestern College recently announced the following local students received degrees from the FOCUS Degree Completion program: Sarah Johnson of Oakdale graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management. Michelle Windham of Oakdale graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Ministries. The FOCUS degree completion program is for working adults who want to initiate or complete a degree in a Christian higher education setting. FOCUS offers degrees in business administration, business management, Christian counseling, communication studies, general studies, human resource management, marketing, ministries and psychology.

The University of North Dakota recently released the names of students who made the President's Roll of Honor. To qualify for the University of North Dakota President’s Roll of Honor, a student must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or higher. The student must also have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours and have completed a minimum of 12 hours at the close of the semester, eight of which must be fore traditional letter grades. Gina Austin, daughter of Steve and Kathy Austin of Oakdale, was named to the Dean's List at Morningside College for the 2012 fall semester. Austin, a sophomore who is majoring in business administration and Spanish, is a past graduate of Hill-Murray School. Austin had a perfect 4.00 grade point average for the semester.
