New Jewelry Store Now Open in Oakdale

Distinctly Johan is located at 592 Hayward Ave. N. in Oakdale.

A new jewelry store featuring custom-made items opened in Oakdale in late July.

Distinctly Johan moved from Hastings, and has several unique offerings, including jewelry made of wood, antlers, meteorites, dinosaur bones and pet ashes, along with more traditional products.

The family-run business moved from Hastings to Oakdale to be closer to the Twin Cities, said Kevin Kolodziej, manager and son-in-law of owner Johan Rust.

It was founded about three and a half years ago. Rust used to make jewelry in his garage as a hobby and it grew from there, Kolodziej said.

Distinctly Johan has about 15 employees. It’s open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends by appointment.
