New Oakdale Caribou Coffee Nears Opening

The coffee company is finishing off construction on a new shop at Century Avenue and Highway 36.

Crews are completing the interior of a new Oakdale Caribou Coffee, and it’s expected to open in early October, according to a company spokeswoman.

The Minneapolis-based company is building a new coffee shop at the northeast intersection of Highway 36 and Century Avenue. The exterior is essentially complete.

Once it opens, it will be the third Caribou Coffee in Oakdale, following the one at the Oakdale Village Shopping Center and the Bergen Plaza location, which opened in October 2012.

Sixteen to 20 employees are typically hired at new stores, said the spokeswoman.

The Oakdale City Council in June 2012 approved the site plan for the new Caribou. There has been some concern about traffic at the site.

The coffee shop will replace an old Kwik Stop gas station; it had been vacant for a number of years.
