Oakdale to Hold First-Ever Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt

People must register in advance for the event, which is replacing the city's haunted hayride this year.

Oakdale is replacing its annual haunted hayride with a flashlight pumpkin hunt this year.

“We thought it was kind of unique,” he said.

The event is set for 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Oakdale Discovery Center. It’s for kids up to age 12.

The cost is $12, and people must register by Oct. 22, either at the Discovery Center or online.

Youngsters can come in costume, and there will also be a bonfire, deejay, games, crafts and treats, Anderson said.

The city has ordered 200 pumpkins, which will be placed throughout the Nature Preserve.
