Police Say Oakdale Man 'Lost It,' Destroyed Restroom Toilet

The bar will have to pay $2,500 to repair a toilet and bathroom stall.

An Oakdale man has been charged with destroying a toilet in a restroom in an Oakdale bar after apparently getting stuck inside a stall.

Brenton Tyler Dedrick, 28, is charged with first-degree property damage, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, the manager of Riley’s Bar and Grill called police on Aug. 30 and reported a male customer had damaged a toilet.

The manager told police that other customers alerted him to a “disorderly patron” in the men’s restroom.

The man entered the restroom and heard the patron—later identified as Dedrick—stuck inside a stall and yelling for help, according to the complaint.

When the manager freed Dedrick, he discovered the toilet had been broken off its base and its tank smashed, with water on the floor near the stall.

Police questioned Dedrick, who initially denied damaging the toilet. However, he admitted later that he was “upset and stressed out” and that he had “lost it” in the bathroom stall and punched the toilet, according to the complaint.

Another bar patron who was in the restroom at the time of the incident told police that he heard “crashing noises” and watched as Dedrick “went crazy” inside the stall.

The cost to repair the damaged toilet and bathroom stall was $2,500, according to the complaint.

Dedrick is scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charge Dec. 18 in Washington County District Court.
