Report: Police Find 'Random Kill' Note in Tran's Bedroom

Investigators found a note in Nhan Lap Tran's bedroom regarding a "random kill."

A search warrant affidavit filed in court reveals a police officer found a note in Nhan Lap Tran's bedroom referencing a "random kill," according to a report by the Pioneer Press.

The Pioneer Press is reporting the note read, "Random Kill, Fake Plates." The officer also found that "12/12/12" was written on the walls.

Tran was charged with second-degree intentional murder, second-degree felony murder during an assault, first-degree assault and two counts of assault in the second degree with a dangerous weapon. on Feb. 13.

According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 11 Tran allegedly began shooting at vehicles on Seventh Street near Hadley Avenue. Bullets struck three people, fatally wounding 9-year-old Devin Aryal and wounding his mother, Melissa Aryal and another woman.

When officers arrested Tran they found a handgun, ammunition and knives.

Tran reportedly told investigators that cars had been following him for a while, revving their engines outside of his home and waking him up. Tran said that is why he shot at vehicles, according to the Pioneer Press. 

Tran will appear in Washington County District Court for a review hearing on March 25.
