Man Charged in Oakdale Western Bank Robbery

The suspect was arrested following another bank robbery in St. Paul.

A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with an April 8 bank robbery in Oakdale.

Ryan Terrell Riddle allegedly walked up to a teller at Western Bank, handed her a note, took the money and fled on foot, according to the criminal complaint.

Surveillance footage from the Oakdale bank shows the suspect wearing a scarf around his face and putting the money in a backpack.

He did not brandish a weapon, police told Patch this spring, though area schools were locked down as a precaution.

Authorities were unable to locate the thief in the Oakdale bank robbery, but Riddle was arrested after an April 24 robbery at a Western Bank in St. Paul.

Riddle, who has no permanent address, admitted to the St. Paul bank robbery but told investigators he was in Chicago on April 8, the complaint says. However, cell tower records showed he used his phone near the Oakdale bank that day, and he later admitted he was in the Twin Cities at the time of the robbery.

He was also wearing a hat that matched the one the suspect wore in the Oakdale bank robbery, according to the complaint.

Riddle faces a felony simple robbery charge, and if convicted faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
