Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt Deadline Extended: Today in Oakdale

Here are five items to take note of today in Oakdale.

Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt

Oakdale on Monday announced that the deadline to sign up for its first-ever flashlight pumpkin hunt has been extended to Oct. 27.

The event is set for 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Oakdale Discovery Center. It’s for kids up to age 12.

The cost is $12, and people can register at either at the Discovery Center or online.

Car Seat Clinic

A car seat clinic will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Oakdale Fire Station, 5000 Hadley Ave.

New Artist

Each month, the work of a featured local artist or artisan is displayed at the Oakdale Discovery Center, located at 4444 Hadley Ave.

In November and December, the mosaic photography of Natalie McGuire will be on display.

Hours for the Discovery Center are: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays; and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

Transfiguration Trip

While the federal government shutdown may have limited some of their tourism choices, Transfiguration students got to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during their trip to Washington, D.C.

Brotherly Love

Almanac recently did a story on DFL state Rep. Leon Lillie, who represents parts of Oakdale, and his brother Ted Lille, a former Republican senator who is now the president of the Taxpayers League of Minnesota.
